Transavia flies to Alternative 11-Cities ice skating event in 2018

Schiphol, June 23 2017

Today Transavia announces 5 new flights with destination the Weissensee in Austria. This is the place where the Alternative 11-cities ice skating event is held from the 24th of January until the 3rd of February. At the request of ice skating fanatics, Transavia will facilitate the transport to this popular event.

The flights will depart from Rotterdam The Hague Airport with destination Klagenfurt Airport in Austria. Tickets are available as from today via www.transavia.com and are available from 29 euro (one way).

The Alternative 11-Cities ice skating event was invented as an alternative for the Dutch ‚Elfstedentocht‘ as the Netherlands is insecure when it comes to ice. In 1989 the founder Aart Koopmans organised the very first Alternative 11-Cities ice skating event at the Weissensee where ice is guaranteed. Every year the tournament attracts thousands of mainly Dutch ice skating fanatics to the Weissensee to enjoy ice skating on natural ice. There are four tours to be ridden on Tuesday 24, Friday 27 and Tuesday 31st of January and on Friday February 3rd 2018 and a maximum of 1.500 ice skaters will ride along.
