Transavia expands its capacity to Greece and the Canary Islands

Schiphol, 29 October 2015

In the summer season of 2016, Transavia is expanding its capacity considerably to Greece and the Canary Islands. Twenty destinations will get 250,000 additional seats. Furthermore, we are increasing the frequency and scheduling more flights and flying days. With this, Transavia wants to meet the demand in the market for more choice and flexibility for passengers and tour operators.

Roy Scheerder, Commercial Director at Transavia, explains: “We believe in developing markets in close collaboration with tour operators. We look at the way we work together, how we can improve that to lower costs and we both aim to generate maximum incomes. We are working intensively on this with the major strategic tour operators. We are moving with the market trend of fewer charter flights and we are increasingly focusing on scheduled flights. The changes to the flights to Greece and the Canary Islands we have introduced with Neckermann, among others, is a good example of this. We will also continue to run full charter flights for other tour operators, like Sundio.”

There will be extra flights available a few times a week from Amsterdam, Eindhoven, Rotterdam and Groningen to the Canary Islands of Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, La Palma and Tenerife and to Menorca on the Balearic Islands. For Greece, there will now be better accessibility to the popular islands of Kos, Santorini, Corfu, Zakynthos, Crete (Chania & Heraklion), Lefkas, Mykonos, Mytilene, Samos and Rhodes.

All these destinations can be booked from today and there will be frequent flights from April throughout the entire summer season. Go to www.transavia.com to see the complete schedule.
